Kobakhidze: OSCE loses trust of Georgian society

OSCE is losing the trust of Georgian society because of the adopted declaration that criticized Georgia.

Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze told journalists this.

"Of course, because of such documents, unfortunately, the trust of Georgian society not only in the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly, but also in the OSCE as a whole is weakening, which is very regrettable. We see that the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly has descended to the level of [U.S. Congressman] Joe Wilson. This is a very tragic phenomenon. Of course, we will draw appropriate conclusions from this," Kobakhidze said.

The OSCE PA adopted a declaration on Georgia. The document included a resolution prepared by U.S. Congressman Joe Wilson, which, in particular, states that the parliamentary elections in Georgia in 2024 and the local government elections in 2025 were allegedly problematic and did not reflect the will of the people. In addition, the document again criticizes Georgia for allegedly existing problems in democracy and restrictions on freedom of assembly. The Georgian delegation left the meeting hall before the vote in protest.
