Iran accuses UN Security Council of inaction before US crimes
The UN Security Council is inactive while the United States commits war crimes by attacking civilian infrastructure facilities in Iran.
This is stated in a letter that the Permanent Representative of the Islamic Republic to the UN, Amir Said Iravani, sent on July 17 to the Secretary General and the Chairman of the Security Council of the world organization.
“Unfortunately, due to the continued inaction of the Security Council, the United States is committing new acts of aggression and war crimes against the Iranian people, grossly violating the UN Charter and international law, in particular international humanitarian law,” the letter says.
The Iranian diplomat stressed that the United States “deliberately strikes at the civilian population and civilian objects,” including bridges and railways. “Iran once again calls on the Security Council to fulfill its main obligation to maintain international peace and security, in accordance with the Charter, and to immediately take measures that will put an end to US aggression and ensure that the United States is held accountable for all gross violations,” the document notes.
