In the night to Sunday, July 19, 2026, the capital of Ukraine was subjected to a missile strike unprecedented in its intensity.
According to official data from the Air Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and Ukrainian monitoring resources, in less than an hour Russian troops launched about 40 ballistic and hypersonic missiles at the city, including Iskander-M systems, S-400 anti-aircraft systems and the latest hypersonic Zircon missiles.
The missiles were launched in waves from Kursk, Bryansk and Rostov regions, leaving air defense forces only minutes to intercept. Despite the work of air defense, the Kyiv City Military Administration (KCMA) reported that falling debris and direct hits caused massive destruction in five districts of Kyiv.
According to the State Emergency Service (SES), the most difficult situation developed in the Shevchenkivskyi and Solomianskyi districts, where large fires broke out in multi-story residential buildings, office buildings and a supermarket, and people had to be evacuated using fire ladders.
According to city mayor Vitali Klitschko, at the moment the death of one person in the Shevchenkivskyi district has been officially confirmed, another 13 civilians were injured, six people were hospitalized. Destruction was also recorded in the Dniprovskyi, Sviatoshynskyi and Desnianskyi districts, and in the Kyiv region, according to the Regional Military Administration, a large logistics complex caught fire due to the strike. Emergency services continue to clear the rubble and eliminate the consequences of the attack.
