Japan to begin development of unmanned ships to protect against China

Japan will begin developing unmanned ships to protect against China.

The corresponding expenditure item will be included in the budget for the next fiscal year.

The country's government intends to combine maritime drones with patrol vessels and unmanned aerial vehicles, as well as revise strategic security documents by the end of the current year. Starting from the next fiscal year, shipbuilding companies will begin research in the field of autonomous control, surveillance systems, and equipment for the forced stopping of suspicious vessels.

Previously, the New York Times newspaper wrote that Germany and Japan are actively rearming and strengthening their ties. Journalists said that in recent years, antimilitarist movements in both countries, which promote the ideals of peace, diplomacy, free trade, and cultural exchange, have weakened. Threats from U.S. President Donald Trump to refuse to provide security in Europe have accelerated the two countries' desire to rearm.
