Billion-ruble losses: Wildberries damage from fires estimated at almost 36 billion rubles

After fires at the warehouses of RWB (which operates the Wildberries marketplace), located in Elektrostal and Kotovsk, about 7% of the online retailer's logistics capacity was put out of service, writes Kommersant.

CEO of GC Meta Maxim Leschev noted that restoring the burned warehouses in the Moscow and Tambov regions will cost the company approximately 100,000 rubles per square meter. Thus, the total cost of the work may amount to 35.8 billion rubles. And the head of the analytical department of the investment company Rikom-Trust Oleg Abelev estimated the value of the logistics parks at more than 20 billion rubles.

The area of the warehouse in Elektrostal is 250,000 square meters, and in Kotovsk — 108,000 square meters. At present, specialists cannot conduct a full assessment of the damage, as they are still awaiting the completion of the work of operational services and access to the affected facilities.

Earlier, WB Bank announced the launch of a set of support measures for Wildberries sellers whose inventory and operations were affected by the fires. Wildberries noted that the Bank has undertaken to support entrepreneurs in restoring their businesses.

On the night of July 18, Ukrainian drones attacked two Wildberries warehouses — in the Moscow region and the Tambov region. At least eight people were killed and more than 80 injured. One of the strikes hit the company's large logistics center in Elektrostal: the plume of smoke stretched for more than 200 km, and up to 15% of all the company's warehouse premises were damaged. The fire could not be fully extinguished even after a day. Along with the complexes, goods belonging to thousands of sellers burned. Some sellers estimate their losses at millions of rubles and are trying to urgently find money to keep their businesses afloat.
