Cyber fraud network uncovered in Turkey: 669 suspects detained

Turkish police conducted a large-scale operation against cybercrime in 39 provinces of the country.

Over the past two weeks, 669 suspects were detained, of which 361 people were arrested, and another 191 are under judicial control.

According to the Turkish Ministry of Interior, the perpetrators created phishing sites posing as the TOKİ social housing program, luring citizens' money under the pretext of paying registration and other fees. In addition, they gained unauthorized access to banking applications and gaming accounts, organized the activities of illegal betting sites, facilitated money transfers, and advertised illegal gambling platforms.

The investigation also established that the suspects used social networks for fraudulent schemes related to the sale of household appliances, investments, and joint projects, and were involved in the storage of materials involving the sexual exploitation of children.

The operation was carried out by cybercrime units under the coordination of the General Directorate of Police, the prosecutor's office, and the Financial Crimes Investigation Board (MASAK). Authorities emphasized that the fight against cybercrime will continue throughout the country.
