Number of earthquake victims in Venezuela grew by several dozen
The number of victims of the double earthquake in Venezuela rose to 5278, wrote in his Telegram channel the speaker of the National Assembly (parliament) of the country Jorge Rodriguez.
According to the politician, 16 740 people were injured, almost 18 thousand were left without a roof over their heads. Due to the earthquakes, 190 buildings were completely destroyed, another 856 were damaged. Emergency services employees managed to save almost 6,5 thousand people. The day before, the authorities reported 5 208 victims.
Venezuela introduced a state of emergency after two strong earthquakes with magnitudes of 7,2 and 7,5 that occurred on the evening of June 24 with an interval of less than a minute. The tremors were felt in Caracas and several states.
