Armenian prosecutor's office again demands to strip Karapetyan of immunity
The Prosecutor General's Office has again submitted a petition to the Central Election Commission regarding the candidate for deputy from the "Strong Armenia" bloc Narek Karapetyan.
Lawyer and candidate for deputy from the same bloc Aram Vardevanyan reported this, Sputnik Armenia reports.
Earlier, on July 9, the CEC returned to the prosecutor's office the petition to strip the deputy from the "Strong Armenia" party Narek Karapetyan of immunity in order to initiate a criminal case against him. The media write that the case concerns concealing the fact of dual citizenship and evading military service.
On July 21, an official ceremony of handing over mandates was held at the CEC. The first session of the parliament will take place on August 3.
After the June 7 elections, in the new composition of the parliament, "Civil Contract" received 64 mandates, the "Strong Armenia" bloc – 29, and the "Armenia" bloc – 12.
