OpenAI considers integrating AI into smart glasses
OpenAI is considering the possibility of integrating its AI technologies into smart glasses from third-party manufacturers.
Company president Greg Brockman stated this during a meeting with journalists in New York, reports CNet.
According to Brockman, OpenAI plans not only to release its own devices but also to provide developers with tools for integrating proprietary AI services into third-party products. In the future, the company intends to form an ecosystem covering various types of devices.
The key element of the strategy should be the voice assistant ChatGPT Live, which is already capable of conducting natural dialogue and integrated with the Codex tool for writing software code based on requests in natural language. In the future, the assistant will be able to interact with third-party applications and perform more tasks without user involvement.
To implement such scenarios, the company is preparing an API that will allow electronics manufacturers to integrate OpenAI models into their own devices. Special attention is paid to wearable electronics: smart glasses with cameras will be able to transmit information about the surrounding environment to AI applications, which will improve the quality of digital assistants.
