Iran says it will not leave Ukraine's strike on its ship unanswered

Head of the Iranian Parliament's Commission on Foreign Policy and National Security Ebrahim Azizi stated that any action against Tehran will have to be paid for and the Ukrainian strike on an Iranian merchant ship will not go unanswered.

"Any attack on Iran always has to be paid for, and this remains relevant today," Azizi wrote on the social network X.

He noted that "the United States and Israel understand this well."

"Ukraine may soon understand that Iran does not leave actions against it unanswered. The list of those who have miscalculated continues to grow!" he added.

Earlier, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi warned that Ukraine's attack on an Iranian merchant ship in the Caspian Sea "cannot go unanswered."

"Zelensky attacked an Iranian commercial ship, killing a sailor. A flagrant violation of the UN Charter, committed on Israel's orders to drag Europe into its war," Araghchi wrote on the social network X.

He added that this "cannot go unanswered."

Iran's Foreign Ministry reported that early Saturday morning, Ukrainian forces struck a ship flying the Iranian flag in the Caspian Sea, killing one sailor and wounding another. The vessel, carrying civilian cargo, was en route from Russia's Astrakhan port to Iran's Anzali port.
