Azerbaijan and Iran discussed issues of synchronizing the operation of border crossings and accelerating transit transportation.

This was reported by the State Customs Committee (SCC).

It is noted that on July 30, a meeting of delegations was held in the Iranian city of Bilesuvar under the leadership of the Chairman of the SCC, Colonel General of the Customs Service Shahin Bagirov, and Iran's Deputy Minister of Economy and Finance, Head of the Customs Administration of Iran Forud Askari.

During the meeting, an exchange of views took place on the issues of the synchronous passage of vehicles through border crossings, the organization of electronic data exchange, increasing the efficiency of customs operations, and the coordinated development of further cooperation.

The parties also discussed issues of ensuring faster passage of cargo vehicles traveling through the territory of Iran to the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic and in the opposite direction, simplifying transit procedures, and increasing traffic intensity.

Following the meeting, a protocol was signed between the parties.

The Azerbaijani delegation also familiarized itself with the activities of the Iranian customs post "Bilesuvar," while the Iranian delegation familiarized itself with the activities of the "Bilesuvar" checkpoint on the Azerbaijani state border.
