France tightens border controls over influx of illegal migrants into Spain

France has tightened border controls on the border with Spain in connection with the influx of illegal migrants from Morocco into the Spanish autonomous city of Ceuta.

French Interior Minister Laurent Nuñez announced this on the social network X.

"In connection with the situation that has developed in the Ceuta enclave, I gave the order last night for an immediate strengthening of border controls on the Spanish border. In addition, I am activating the Border Rapid Reaction Force to conduct thorough checks," he noted.

France borders Spain in the southwest, along a stretch of 623 kilometers. Most of this land border runs through the Pyrenees mountain system.

Note that in connection with the influx of illegal migrants into Ceuta, Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni stated that Rome is ready to suspend the Schengen Agreement with Spain.
