Around 60,000 migrants entered Ceuta

Some 60,000 migrants have entered the autonomous city of Ceuta, located on the northern coast of Africa.

This was reported to journalists by the head of the city government, Juan Jesús Vivas.

"It is estimated that as a result of this incident about 60,000 people arrived in our city, this represents 70% of the population [of Ceuta]," he said.

As Spanish media reported earlier, thousands of migrants managed to reach Ceuta by swimming, as well as on foot, going around the breakwater that separates the city from Morocco. Against the backdrop of the migration crisis, the Spanish authorities decided to deploy the military to help ensure security in the locality.
