President of the Pan-African Parliament: Azerbaijan is a reliable partner for African countries

As part of her visit to the Republic of South Africa, Speaker of the Milli Majlis Sahiba Gafarova met with the President of the Pan-African Parliament, Fatih Boutbig.

According to the Press and Public Relations Department of the Milli Majlis, during the meeting there was a broad exchange of views on the friendly relations between Azerbaijan and African countries, the prospects for the development of interparliamentary cooperation, and other issues of mutual interest.

It was emphasized that parliaments play an important role in implementing the Pan-African Union Agenda 2063. F. Boutbig stated that Azerbaijan is a reliable partner for African countries, noting that the parties are united by common values and relations based on mutual respect. He emphasized that parliamentary diplomacy plays an important role in strengthening ties between peoples and promoting mutual interests.

In turn, S. Gafarova stated that Azerbaijan attaches special importance to developing relations with African countries. Particular emphasis was placed on the importance of expanding interparliamentary ties, strengthening political dialogue, increasing mutual trust, and developing cooperation in new areas.

The Speaker of the Milli Majlis noted that the further expansion of interparliamentary ties serves the mutual interests of the parties, emphasizing that there are good opportunities for developing institutional cooperation with the Parliamentary Network of the Non-Aligned Movement.

During the meeting, views were exchanged on the prospects for developing cooperation between the Milli Majlis and the Pan-African Parliament, as well as between the Parliamentary Network of the Non-Aligned Movement and the Pan-African Parliament, on interaction within international parliamentary organizations, and on other issues of mutual interest.
