Road police appeals to drivers planning trips for the weekend

In connection with the expected increase in the number of trips to the regions in the upcoming weekend, the Main Directorate of the State Road Police (GUGDP) of Azerbaijan appealed to drivers with a call to strictly observe traffic rules.

The agency noted that the growth in traffic intensity on republican roads requires all road users to exercise increased attention and responsibility.

"It should be remembered that a long trip requires not only the technical serviceability of the car, but also good physical and psychological preparation of the driver," the appeal states.

The police emphasized that driving in a state of fatigue, lack of sleep, or reduced concentration significantly increases the risk of road accidents.

Drivers were also urged to observe the speed limit taking into account road and weather conditions, maintain a safe distance, avoid dangerous overtaking and maneuvers, and not be distracted while driving.

In addition, GUGDP appealed to pedestrians, reminding them that crossing the road in an unauthorized place, stepping onto the roadway without assessing the speed of approaching traffic, and using mobile phones and other distracting devices can lead to serious consequences.

"It is necessary to cross the road only in designated places, after first establishing visual contact with drivers and making sure it is safe to cross," the road police stressed.
