A light Cessna 208B Grand Caravan aircraft operated by Aerodiana airline crashed in Peru while performing a tourist flight over the Nazca Lines.

All 13 people on board died in the crash, RTT reports.

The plane crashed on August 1 in the Pueblo Viejo area in the province of Nazca.

According to local media, about an hour after takeoff from Pisco airport, the pilot declared an emergency, after which contact with the aircraft was lost.

Among the dead were 11 foreign tourists: seven Italian citizens, two German citizens and two Spanish citizens. The other two victims were the pilot and the second crew member, who were Peruvian citizens.

The wreckage of the plane was found on an agricultural plot about 1.5 km from the Pan-American Highway south of the city of Nazca. After the impact, the aircraft burned completely, and rescuers found no survivors.

Police, prosecutors, forensic experts and criminologists are working at the crash site. Investigators are seizing evidence and also checking the documents of Aerodiana airline, including the flight plan and passenger list. The bodies of the dead have been taken to the forensic medical center for official identification and necessary examinations.
