In Georgia higher education in state universities will become free.
Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze stated this.
According to him, the new funding model provides mechanisms that will help maintain students' interest and motivation to study.
Kobakhidze noted that if a student does not pass two subjects in one semester, starting from the third semester the volume of state funding for him will be reduced. According to him, this measure is aimed exclusively at increasing motivation for learning.
The prime minister also stated that one of the main reasons for the high rates of economic growth in the country was the eradication of corruption. According to him, in July the economy of Georgia grew by 8.6%, and the average growth for the first six months of the year was 7.9%, which exceeded the forecasts of the IMF and other international financial institutions.
