Iran denies Trump's words about talks with the U.S.
Statements by U.S. President Donald Trump about negotiations between Tehran and Washington are false; Iran is holding talks only with Oman on ensuring safe navigation in the Strait of Hormuz.
This was reported by the spokesman for the Islamic Republic's Foreign Ministry, Esmail Baghaei.
"At the moment we have no negotiations with the United States. Talks are currently underway with Oman aimed at reaching an agreement on a route that will ensure safe navigation through the Strait of Hormuz," he noted during a press conference.
Earlier, U.S. President Donald Trump said that the United States and Iran would move to negotiations on a peace deal on August 3. In addition, Trump wrote on the social network Truth Social that he had agreed to cancel a planned powerful strike on the republic for the sake of reaching a deal with Tehran.
