Infantino apologized for the project to sell rights to the soccer World Cup
The president of the International Federation of Association Football (FIFA), Gianni Infantino, has sent a written apology regarding the project to sell World Cup rights, which drew a negative reaction, Sky News reports.
The outlet obtained a letter signed by Infantino and FIFA Secretary General Mattias Grafström.
"We acknowledge that mistakes were made following the leak to the media. We sincerely apologize for them and pledge that this will not happen again. In this regard, an appropriate review will be conducted, and its report will be presented to the FIFA Council at the next scheduled meeting," Sky News quotes Infantino as saying.
It was reported earlier that FIFA had sent letters to football associations asking them to support the reelection of Gianni Infantino as president.
