Turkey allows Egypt to join defense agreement

Vice President of Turkey Cevdet Yılmaz admitted the possibility of expanding the defense agreement with Saudi Arabia and Pakistan and Egypt joining it.

"In the future, of course, this (expansion – ed.) is possible. Egypt is a rather strong country, and its participation could be significant for such a format," Yılmaz said in an interview with CNN Türk channel, answering a question about the likelihood of including Egypt in this agreement.

Turkey, Saudi Arabia and Pakistan concluded a defense agreement, the leaders of the three countries signed the document. According to the Türkiye newspaper, the joint defense pact provides for cooperation in the exchange of intelligence data and coordination of regional security.
