NVIDIA: The largest "artificial intelligence factory" in the CIS has been launched in Armenia

The largest computing infrastructure center for artificial intelligence in the CIS region has been launched in Armenia.

This was reported by NVIDIA, which presented the project of the company Firebird, implemented with the participation of NVIDIA, Dell Technologies, CoreWeave and other technology partners.

The new AI center is located in Hrazdan and is intended for training, fine-tuning and running large artificial intelligence models. Its computing infrastructure is built on NVIDIA technologies and high-performance Dell Technologies equipment.

The opening ceremony was attended by Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan, Deputy Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Zhaslan Madiyev and U.S. Chargé d'Affaires ad interim in Armenia David Allen.

According to NVIDIA, by the end of 2027 Firebird intends to deploy more than 70,000 NVIDIA Rubin and Blackwell graphics processors in Armenia, and the total capacity of the AI infrastructure being created is expected to reach 300 MW. The project is designed to turn Armenia into one of the regional centers for research in the field of artificial intelligence and high-performance computing.

As noted in the publication, developers, startups, large companies, universities and government agencies will be able to gain access to the new computing capacities. This should make it possible to create and scale AI solutions directly in Armenia, including with regard to national linguistic, economic and technological tasks.

The center is built on the NVIDIA DSX platform, which combines computing resources, network infrastructure, power supply and cooling into a single system. According to NVIDIA's estimates, the use of this architecture makes it possible to accommodate up to 40% more graphics processors in the same area.

Firebird, with the support of NVIDIA, plans not to limit itself to the Armenian project. The company is forming a program for the development of AI infrastructure with a total capacity of about 2 GW, which is expected to cover Armenia, Kazakhstan and other markets. In addition, NVIDIA announced its intention to invest in Firebird.
According to NVIDIA, the construction and launch of the Armenian AI factory took slightly more than six months.
