Train intervals on the Red Line of the Baku metro will be a maximum of 2 minutes
After the construction of new depot infrastructure is completed in 2028, the Baku Metro plans to reduce the interval between trains on the Red Line to a maximum of 2 minutes.
Bakhtiyar Mammadov, head of the press service of Baku Metro CJSC, told AZERTAC about this.
According to him, this will be an important stage in reducing passenger congestion in the Baku metro and ensuring the minimum intervals that are considered necessary for large cities in world practice.
"In 2028, the planned work on the construction of the depot in the direction of Icherisheher will be completed, after which work on ensuring the minimum intervals required in accordance with world practice and for growing cities will be completed on the Red Line. That is, the minimum interval will be a maximum of 2 minutes," Bakhtiyar Mammadov noted.
He reported that in the future it will also become possible to significantly reduce the interval on the Green Line.
"After the construction of two stations beyond the Khatai station on the Green Line and the provision of depot infrastructure for this direction, the maximum interval will be 3 minutes," the CJSC representative emphasized.
Bakhtiyar Mammadov noted that these changes will contribute to meeting passenger demand more effectively, which is one of the main priorities of the Baku Metro for the coming period: "In a word, the main task of the Baku Metro in the coming period is to reduce intervals and congestion taking into account passenger demand."
According to the CJSC representative, in accordance with the state program, the construction of 10 new stations and the creation of transfers between lines will ensure the full integration of all lines of the Baku metro with each other.
"Underground, enough directions will be created for our passengers to travel from the city center to its outskirts. That is, the passenger will begin to choose the route himself," Bakhtiyar Mammadov said.
He emphasized that this will be one of the important projects in terms of increasing passenger comfort in the transport system of Baku.
