U.S. urges Apple to abandon purchases of Chinese memory chips

The administration of U.S. President Donald Trump has urged Apple not to buy Chinese memory chips.

As 1news.az reports, The Wall Street Journal (WSJ) writes about this.

According to the authors of the publication, because of the memory chip crisis, the American company is forced to consider options involving purchases from Chinese partners.

U.S. Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick stated that the Trump administration does not support such a situation.

"There are other solutions for memory chip problems besides great American companies buying Chinese memory chips," Lutnick added.

At the end of July, The Wall Street Journal wrote that the confrontation between Apple and the American memory chip manufacturer Micron Technology had confronted the administration of U.S. President Donald Trump with a difficult choice.

Apple is seeking permission to use Chinese memory chips in devices intended for foreign markets, while Micron warns of risks to the American semiconductor industry.
