Expansion of economic ties between Karabakh and Romania's Maramureș discussed
Talks were held on expanding economic ties between the Romanian region of Maramureș and the city of Khankendi, as well as the Aghdara and Khojaly districts of Karabakh.
This was reported by the Embassy of Azerbaijan in Romania.
The diplomatic mission noted that a delegation headed by the special representative of the President of Azerbaijan in Khankendi and the Aghdara and Khojaly districts, Elchin Yusubov, which is on an official visit to Romania, held a meeting with the chairman of the Maramureș Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Florentin Nicolae Tuș. Businessmen and local entrepreneurs also took part in the meeting.
The meeting discussed the prospects for developing cooperation between Azerbaijan's Karabakh region and the Romanian region of Maramureș, as well as issues of expanding business ties.
Florentin Nicolae Tuș noted the Romanian side's interest in establishing direct contacts and carrying out mutual visits with the aim of expanding trade.
Elchin Yusubov, in turn, provided the other side with detailed information about the large-scale construction and infrastructure projects being implemented in Karabakh, the favorable conditions created for investors, and tax incentives. Speaking about the positive dynamics of trade turnover between Azerbaijan and Romania, he noted that the development of interregional cooperation would create additional opportunities for the further diversification of economic indicators. Elchin Yusubov invited businessmen from Maramureș to visit Karabakh.
The parties exchanged views on various areas of cooperation.
With a view to developing economic cooperation, the Azerbaijani delegation also visited the Aramis factory located in Maramureș, which is one of the largest furniture manufacturers in Europe, and familiarized itself with production. The management of the furniture factory, showing interest in cooperation with Karabakh, announced plans to visit the region in the near future.
