Renowned Soviet interviewer dies

Soviet and Russian journalist Felix Medvedev, who interviewed famous writers, has died at the age of 85.

As 1news.az reports, this was announced by TASS.

"He died on August 14 after a long illness," members of his family told the agency.

Medvedev graduated from the editorial faculty of the Moscow Polygraphic Institute. From 1975 to 1990 he worked at the magazine "Ogonyok," heading the poetry department. In addition, Medvedev was published in such outlets as "Vremya i My," "Vechernyaya Moskva," "Parlamentskaya Gazeta" and others. He also hosted "The Green Lamp," a program about culture and literature.

Medvedev was also known as an interviewer. At various times he spoke with the poets Yevgeny Yevtushenko, Bella Akhmadulina and Joseph Brodsky, the writer Chingiz Aitmatov, the last general secretary of the Central Committee of the CPSU Mikhail Gorbachev, the fashion designer Yves Saint Laurent and other well-known figures.
