Messi scores in second consecutive match after his father's death

Inter Miami forward Lionel Messi scored in a home match of the MLS regular season against Toronto, but his team lost 1-2.

The Argentine found the back of the net in the 82nd minute of the game. This goal was Messi's second in a row since he resumed playing — earlier the forward scored in a drawn game against Philadelphia (2-2).

Thanks to that goal, Messi, with 14 goals, moved into sole second place in the MLS scoring race. The list is led by Dallas forward Petar Musa, who has 16 goals.

After this round, Inter Miami sits in 2nd place in the Eastern Conference table with 39 points, while Toronto occupies 10th place with 24 points. In their next match, Inter Miami will play at home against Montreal, while Toronto will face New York City.
