The State Border Service (SBS) continues to take measures to introduce modern border control technologies, ensure passenger comfort, and increase the efficiency of border crossing procedures.

As reported by the SBS, as part of these measures, the "Electronic Border Control System" (an automated passport control and biometric identification system) has been put into operation at Heydar Aliyev International Airport.

The innovative system, which operates on the basis of modern technological solutions, allows citizens of the Republic of Azerbaijan who have reached the age of 18 to pass through border control more quickly and conveniently.

The border control process through electronic gates is carried out automatically at the main stages. After a passenger presents an identity document to the corresponding reading device, the information in the document is automatically read by the system, the necessary checks of the relevant information systems are carried out, and the person's identity is verified on the basis of biometric data.

After all the data is confirmed to match, the electronic gates open automatically, and the passenger's passage through border control is completed. This process is carried out with the help of electronic gates in approximately 20 seconds.

The introduction of the system makes it possible to automate the main stages of border control, reduce passenger waiting time at checkpoints, increase the flexibility and efficiency of control procedures, and minimize the human factor.

The "Electronic Border Control Gates System" was initially put into operation in the arrivals hall of Heydar Aliyev International Airport.

At the next stage, it is planned to introduce the system at other state border checkpoints. Work is currently underway to expand and improve the capabilities of the system.

The main goal of applying new technologies is not only to ensure faster passage of passengers through border control, but also to increase passenger satisfaction, expand the scope of application of digital technologies in border control, and create effective control mechanisms that meet modern requirements.

The introduction of this system is one of the important steps taken toward the development of digital and innovative border control infrastructure at Azerbaijan's international airports and the integration of advanced technologies into the field of border protection and control.

The State Border Service continues its activities to organize border control at state border checkpoints in accordance with modern standards, to apply innovative technologies, and to create more flexible and convenient service opportunities for passengers.
