European Commission to present reform of EU enlargement policy
The European Commission has developed and will present in September a large-scale reform of the European Union's enlargement policy, which includes abolishing member states' right of veto over the admission of new countries to the European Union.
This was reported by the Bloomberg agency.
"The European Commission is preparing for a profound reform of the EU enlargement process. It will present its proposals to the EU countries and the European Parliament at the end of September. The draft includes everything from a revision of the reforms required for admission to the EU to the use of a qualified majority in decision-making instead of the principle of unanimity, in order to avoid blockages," the agency notes.
