Three days of mourning declared in Northern Cyprus after ship sinking

Three days of national mourning have been declared in Northern Cyprus following the sinking of a passenger vessel traveling the Girne–Tasucu route off the coast of Girne, which resulted in fatalities.

As 1news.az reports citing Haber Global, the corresponding decision was made in connection with the tragedy that occurred.

To recall, Northern Cyprus Prime Minister Unal Ustel reported the detention of the ship's captain and seven employees as part of the investigation into the sinking of the passenger vessel off the coast of Girne.

As a result of the shipwreck off the coast of Girne, 8 people died and 237 people were rescued. Among those rescued are two citizens of Azerbaijan.
