Fishing season declared open in Azerbaijan starting today

The fishing season in Azerbaijan has been declared open as of September 1.

According to Report, under the "Rules for Catching Fish and Other Aquatic Biological Resources," on September 1 the moratorium on the commercial catching of fish and other aquatic biological resources, imposed in connection with the spawning period in the Caspian Sea, the Kura River, Lake Sarysu, as well as in the Mingachevir, Shamkir, Araz and Yenikend reservoirs, expires.

Violators of fishing rules, as well as those engaged in illegal fishing, are held liable in the manner provided for by the Code of Administrative Offenses and the Criminal Code of Azerbaijan.
