Michael Schumacher's name officially became a common noun in the Russian language
The V.V. Vinogradov Russian Language Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences has included the surname of the legendary racer Michael Schumacher in "Akademos," the official online dictionary that contains the standard spelling of Russian lexical units.
The word "шума́хер" (shumakher) now carries the label "also about a racer, a reckless driver" and serves as a common noun denoting a reckless or aggressive driver.
In 2026, Ferrari marks the 30th anniversary of Michael Schumacher's first victory for the team. The seven-time Formula 1 champion raced for the Scuderia from 1996 to 2006 and won five titles in a row (2000-2004). The 2026 Italian Grand Prix at Monza will simultaneously mark the 30th anniversary of his first success with Ferrari (1996) and the 20th anniversary of the German's last Formula 1 victory (2006). In total, Schumacher won the Italian round five times.
