Azerbaijan's air traffic grew by 11% over the summer, and transit by 14.5%
During the 2026 summer season, the volume of air traffic in Azerbaijan's airspace increased.
In June–August, the Air Traffic Control agency "Azeraeronavigation" (AZANS) provided air navigation services to a total of 102,130 flights. This figure grew by 11% compared to the same period last year.
The volume of air traffic increased steadily throughout the summer months. In June, AZANS provided air navigation services to 32,430 flights, in July to 34,322, and in August to 35,378 flights.
Thus, August became the busiest month of the summer season in terms of air traffic.
Higher growth was recorded in the number of transit flights. In June–August, 78,749 transit flights were carried out through Azerbaijan's airspace. This figure grew by 14.5% compared to the same period last year.
The highest daily air traffic figure of the summer season was recorded on August 23. On that day, air navigation services were provided to 1,210 flights in Azerbaijan's airspace.
The peak figure for transit flights was recorded on August 22. Within a single day, 920 transit flights were carried out through Azerbaijan's airspace. This figure is 13.4% higher than the maximum level recorded in the 2025 summer season.
Note that the double-digit growth in transit flights underscores the importance of Azerbaijan's airspace in international air traffic and the role of air navigation services amid growing traffic.
