The opening ceremony of the international MAMA "Mother Nature" art exhibition was held at the Pons Foundation in Madrid.

As AZERTAC reports, the ceremony was attended by Vice President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation Leyla Aliyeva, Arzu Aliyeva, members of the diplomatic corps accredited in Spain, art figures, and representatives of the local community.

The international MAMA "Mother Nature" art exhibition, implemented on the initiative of Vice President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation and founder of the IDEA Public Union Leyla Aliyeva, brings together artists representing various countries and cultures, drawing attention to the importance of the connection between people and nature, as well as environmental protection.

The project was first presented in 2024 in Baku, at the Heydar Aliyev Center, within the framework of the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29). Subsequently, the exhibition acquired an international scale and was displayed in Manama, Rome, London, Tbilisi, Berlin, Tirana, Geneva, and Riga.

This time the exhibition is presented in Madrid with the joint organizational support of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation and the Embassy of Azerbaijan in Spain.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Ambassador of Azerbaijan to Spain Ramiz Hasanov said that the MAMA "Mother Nature" project is an international artistic initiative exploring the deep connection between art and humanity. He noted that the project draws attention to the environmental challenges of our time. The ambassador thanked the author of the project's idea, Leyla Aliyeva, for holding the exhibition in Madrid, and expressed hope that the exposition would contribute not only to increasing interest in art, but also to fostering among visitors a greater sense of responsibility and care toward the environment.

Speaking next, Luis Fonseca Sánchez, head of the General Directorate for North America, Eastern Europe, Asia and the Pacific of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation of the Kingdom of Spain, emphasized that his country is a land of art, creativity, and culture. He noted that it is precisely thanks to this that new opportunities are opening up for dialogue and cooperation with partners such as Azerbaijan. Spain is also one of the countries with the most extensive protected natural areas in Europe. These areas are accessible to thousands of visitors, which testifies to the formation of a society that recognizes the importance of protecting ecosystems and biodiversity.

Vice President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation and founder of the IDEA Public Union Leyla Aliyeva spoke in her address about the significance of the international MAMA "Mother Nature" project. Recalling that this exhibition was first displayed in Baku within the framework of COP29, Leyla Aliyeva said that the exposition was subsequently organized in various countries of the world, carrying an important message related to nature, the environment, and our common future.

"Nature is our mother. It gives us land, water, and air. However, despite all this, we, people, continue to harm these benefits bestowed by nature. This exhibition is another step toward a better future," the Foundation's vice president added.

It should be noted that the exhibition will be open to visitors from September 9 to 18.

The exposition features works by well-known contemporary artists from Azerbaijan, Spain, Italy, Latvia, Ukraine, Georgia, the United Kingdom, Germany, and other countries.
