Iran intends to ban passage through Hormuz for vessels violating the restricted zone
Iran will permanently ban passage through the Strait of Hormuz for all vessels that enter the restricted zone of the waters declared by Tehran.
This was stated by Hossein Mohebi, a representative of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC, elite units of the armed forces).
"In the event of the passage of any vessel through the restricted zone of the Strait of Hormuz, the exact coordinates of which will be announced later, the provision of any maritime, insurance and logistics services to that vessel will cease. It will be deprived of the right even in subsequent attempts to pass through the Strait of Hormuz," the Fars agency quoted him as saying.
According to Mohebi, the area east of the Strait of Hormuz, including the areas of the port of Chabahar and parts of the Sea of Oman and the Arabian Sea, will be declared a restricted zone.
