French Football Federation will not support Infantino in FIFA presidential election

The French Football Federation (FFF) does not intend to support the candidacy of the current FIFA president, Gianni Infantino, in the upcoming election for the head of the organization.

The French federation's final position will be announced on September 10, after a meeting of its executive committee.

Dissatisfaction with Infantino intensified after he announced, shortly after the conclusion of the 2026 World Cup, plans to transfer part of FIFA's commercial rights to outside investors. The initiative provoked a sharp reaction in the football community and led to threats to boycott the 2030 World Cup.

UEFA, the Asian Football Confederation, and CONCACAF accused Infantino of being misleading in connection with the FIFA Forward Enterprise project, which envisaged the sale of rights. Amid the criticism, FIFA abandoned the implementation of this initiative.

Earlier, a number of countries also announced their refusal to support Infantino in the upcoming FIFA presidential election.
