Trump: U.S. war with Iran will end right after congressional elections
The U.S. war with Iran will end right after the American elections in November.
U.S. President Donald Trump said this to journalists.
"I think the war will end right after the elections," the American president said (quoted by Clash Report).
Trump also stated that the United States is not currently seeking talks with Iran, although he allowed for the possibility of holding them in the future. "Talks may take place, but right now we are not seeking that," he noted.
According to the American leader, possible agreements with Tehran should cover not only the nuclear program. Trump said that the nuclear issue would be 99.9% part of a potential deal, but other topics could also be brought up for discussion.
The U.S. president also accused Iran of attempting to influence the American elections. According to him, Tehran is counting on weaker politicians coming to power who would allow it to obtain nuclear weapons.
The parliamentary elections in the United States will be held on November 3. The House of Representatives will be fully re-elected, as well as one-third of the Senate.
