"It will be called that": U.S. president proposes renaming Hormuz the "Strait of Trump"

U.S. President Donald Trump has proposed renaming the Strait of Hormuz the "Strait of Trump."

"I think we should call the Strait of Hormuz the Strait of Trump. I have to get something out of this. It will be called that, ladies and gentlemen. I will make an announcement," Trump said in Dallas at the national convention of the ruling Republican Party, which is being held ahead of the November midterm elections to the U.S. Congress.

The American president also expressed confidence that oil prices will decline after the U.S. victory in the war with Iran. Trump once again asserted that the United States controls the Strait of Hormuz, through which a significant portion of the world's oil supplies passes.
