Jeyhun Bayramov: Azerbaijan has allocated about $400 million to international aid since 2020

More than 140 countries have received international aid from Azerbaijan over the past 15 years, with about $400 million allocated through bilateral and multilateral channels since 2020.

As Report informs, this was stated by Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov at the conference "Strengthening Global Solidarity through Humanitarian Aid and Development Cooperation."

The conference is dedicated to the 15th anniversary of the Azerbaijan International Development Aid Agency (AIDA).
According to the head of the Foreign Ministry, the recipients of aid include 54 African states, 111 of the 121 member countries of the Non-Aligned Movement, 52 of the 57 member states of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, 43 of the 44 least developed countries, as well as 28 of the 39 small island developing states.

"Since 2020, about $400 million has been allocated for aid through bilateral and multilateral channels. Our support takes a wide variety of forms. During the COVID-19 pandemic, Azerbaijan provided assistance to 80 countries," Bayramov said.

The minister noted that Azerbaijan's cooperation with African countries included support for the fight against the Ebola epidemic and participation in the Alliance for the Fight Against Avoidable Blindness.

"Within the framework of this initiative, more than 900,000 people underwent vision screening, and over 150,000 cataract surgeries were performed. At the same time, the professional development of local medical specialists was carried out," the head of the Foreign Ministry said.
