Pakistan's Foreign Ministry rules out adding new countries to the Mecca agreement

Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, and Turkey have no plans so far to invite new countries to take part in the Mecca agreement.

This was stated at a weekly briefing by the spokesman for the Pakistani Foreign Ministry.

"At this stage, no discussions are being held about expanding the Mecca agreements," the newspaper Dawn quoted him as saying.

According to the representative of the foreign policy agency, "Pakistan, Turkey, and Saudi Arabia must first further strengthen their <...> cooperation," and only after that "the organization will be open to all states sharing similar positions and views."

On August 7, Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman Al Saud, Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan, and Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif signed the Mecca agreement. It stipulates that an attack on one of the countries will be regarded as aggression against all parties to the pact.
