Reason named for incomplete restrictions on car entry into Icherisheher - PHOTO
The number of cars entering Icherisheher has been halved.
According to Report, this was stated by Aytaj Alisultanli, a board member of the Icherisheher State Historical-Architectural Reserve Administration, at Baku Climate Action Week 2026 (BCAW 2026).
According to her, the maximum capacity of Icherisheher for cars was previously 600 vehicles, and now this figure has been reduced to 300.
Alisultanli explained that it is impossible to completely close the territory to vehicle traffic, since local residents and entrepreneurs also use cars:
"However, reducing the number of cars and introducing certain restrictions is one of the steps being taken to ensure sustainable mobility."
The board member added that Icherisheher occupies a limited area of only 22 hectares within the fortress walls, so it is physically impossible to expand this territory.
