Half a century later: Florida police identify the killer of two sisters - PHOTO
In the state of Florida, USA, police have found a suspect in the killing of two sisters 53 years later.

The remains of 18-year-old Marguerite Jenkins and 16-year-old Mary Jenkins were found in a forest on May 3, 1973. They had been brutally beaten. In addition, they had gunshot wounds.
The sisters had come to Florida on vacation. Police knew that on May 2 they had been seen hitchhiking on the road. They were unable to uncover anything else. The girls' older sister said that she had tried to conduct her own investigation together with their mother, but it also produced no results.
The breakthrough came in 2018. At that time, analysts at the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) obtained additional markers from a male DNA profile isolated from a bloodstain on the clothing of one of the victims. In 2023, they managed to develop a more complete profile, and three years later they identified the suspect.
The perpetrator turned out to be David Allen Snyder. In 1972-1974 he lived not far from the place where the girls were found. However, he died in 2008, and he never stood trial.
