Azerbaijan-EU cooperation agenda discussed in Baku

Issues on the agenda of cooperation between Azerbaijan and the European Union, prospects for the development of the partnership, as well as the current situation in the region and work to strengthen regional peace and stability were discussed at a meeting between the republic's Minister of Foreign Affairs Jeyhun Bayramov and the EU Special Representative for the South Caucasus Magdalena Grono in Baku.

According to the press service of the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry, the parties reviewed the further development of the institutional and legal framework of relations between Azerbaijan and the EU, the conclusion of negotiations on the document on the priorities of the bilateral partnership, as well as the prospects of the negotiation process on a new bilateral agreement.

During the meeting, information was provided on ensuring peace and security in the South Caucasus and on the steps being taken toward normalization and confidence-building between Azerbaijan and Armenia.

The importance of the discussions held within the framework of the meeting of the leaders of Azerbaijan and Armenia, which took place in August of this year in Bishkek, was emphasized from the standpoint of advancing the regional peace agenda.

In addition, the meeting featured an exchange of views on the work being carried out in the region in the field of energy and communications, as well as on other bilateral and regional issues of mutual interest.
