Europe fears strikes on Russian gas infrastructure

Ukraine's strikes on two Russian gas facilities in the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug have caused concern in Europe.

As Bloomberg notes, about 80% of Russian natural gas is produced in this region. Europe currently buys about 10% of its gas from Russia: roughly half of the supplies come from LNG, while the other part arrives via the TurkStream pipeline.

According to the agency, Europe is especially concerned about a possible strike on the Yamal LNG plant — Russia's largest liquefied natural gas production facility.
