Ferry with 243 passengers on board goes missing in Indonesia - VIDEO
The ferry Virgo Transport 8, with 243 people on board, has gone missing in Indonesia. This was reported by the country's National Search and Rescue Agency (Basarnas).
According to the agency, the vessel was traveling from Surabaya to Banjarmasin. Contact with the ferry was lost at 02:00 local time (22:00 Baku time) after it was caught in a severe storm.
"The last received position of the vessel was approximately 80 nautical miles from the SAR Basirih pier in Banjarmasin," the coordinator of the search and rescue operation said. Currently, the Indonesian Navy, the water police, and navigation services are involved in the search. The agency noted that the search operation is being conducted in an intensified mode.
