Sweden holds parliamentary elections

Sweden is holding parliamentary elections on Sunday, which could result in a change of government in the country.

According to the latest polls, the center-left bloc led by former Prime Minister Magdalena Andersson retains a slight advantage over the ruling right-wing alliance of Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson.

One of the main intrigues of the election remains the possible entry of the Sweden Democrats party into the government. The party currently supports Kristersson's cabinet but is not represented in it.

Kristersson said earlier that, in the event of a victory for the right-wing bloc, he is ready to include representatives of the Sweden Democrats in the government.

There are 349 seats in the Riksdag. To obtain a majority, it is necessary to control at least 175 mandates.

The final balance of power may depend on the results of smaller parties, including the Liberals, who need to clear the four percent threshold.
