Iran's Foreign Ministry summons the head of Austria's diplomatic mission

Iran's Foreign Ministry summoned the head of the Austrian diplomatic mission in the Islamic Republic and expressed a strong protest to him over Vienna's refusal to issue a visa to Mohammad Eslami, vice president and head of the Atomic Energy Organization of the Islamic Republic, who had arrived to take part in the 70th session of the IAEA General Conference.

This was reported by Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmail Baghaei.

"They were supposed to issue a visa to the Iranian delegation under all international laws. We immediately took measures and summoned the Austrian chargé d'affaires to express our protest," he said during a weekly press conference. According to Baghaei, the fact that Vienna denied the visa under pressure from Washington does not absolve Austria of responsibility for its actions.

Earlier, Bloomberg reported, citing a source, that the Austrian authorities, at the instigation of the United States, denied entry to the head of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran, Mohammad Eslami, who as a result will not be able to speak at the IAEA General Conference.
