Ramin Mammadov: Rich history and culture of peaceful coexistence — the wealth of Turkic peoples

"The rich history of the Turkic world, spanning millennia, and the culture of peaceful coexistence, regardless of religion or ethnicity, are the wealth of the Turkic peoples."

As Report informs, this was stated by the Chairman of the State Committee for Work with Religious Organizations, Ramin Mammadov, at the First International Scientific and Practical Conference held as part of the VII Meeting of Muslim Religious Leaders of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS) in Baku.

According to him, the complex geostrategic realities of today, the increasing incidents of Islamophobia, xenophobia, and religious radicalism, as well as new threats, including foreign ideological interference, faced by the OTS countries, require states to develop a unified position.

"Today, our main goal is to protect from such influences the Turkic world, where about 40% of the population consists of young people, and to instill in young people correct notions of Islam, coexistence, and harmony, based on sound scientific knowledge and traditional moral values," Mammadov said.

He emphasized that the Communiqué adopted in Shusha following the First Meeting of Heads of State Bodies for Religious Affairs of the OTS member states is a clear plan for achieving these goals.

Mammadov also reported that next year, an international symposium dedicated to the legacy of the renowned Azerbaijani scholar and thinker Sheikh Seyid Yahya Bakuvi is planned to be held with the organization of the Azerbaijan Institute of Theology.
