Azerbaijan's Minister of Foreign Affairs Jeyhun Bayramov and Turkey's Minister of Foreign Affairs Hakan Fidan held an expanded meeting on September 15 with the participation of the delegations of Azerbaijan and Turkey.
According to AZERTAC, the ministers reviewed the broad agenda of the strategic alliance relations formed on the basis of the leadership and vision of the presidents and enshrined in the Shusha Declaration.
During the discussions, issues of political dialogue, trade and economic ties, investments, energy, transport and logistics, security and defense, humanitarian cooperation, as well as coordination within international and regional organizations were addressed.
The ministers emphasized the importance of such institutional mechanisms as the High-Level Strategic Cooperation Council, political consultations between the foreign ministries, and the Intergovernmental Joint Commission on Economic Cooperation.
The sides exchanged views on issues of cooperation within the UN, the Organization of Turkic States, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, the OSCE, the Economic Cooperation Organization, the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia, D-8, and other international and regional organizations.
The ministers noted the contribution of trilateral and quadrilateral cooperation formats, such as Azerbaijan-Georgia-Turkey, Azerbaijan-Pakistan-Turkey, and Azerbaijan-Uzbekistan-Turkey, to regional security, economic development, and connectivity.
The meeting discussed the progress achieved over the past year toward the normalization of Azerbaijani-Armenian relations, as well as the practical steps that will be taken to ensure lasting peace and regional cooperation.
The ministers also exchanged views on events in the Middle East and other regions, new geopolitical realities, and ongoing conflicts.
The sides once again reaffirmed their common position that conflicts and military confrontations must be resolved through political and diplomatic efforts.
