U.S. President Donald Trump met with Armenia's Ambassador to the United States Narek Mkrtchyan and representatives of the Armenian clergy, the press service of the Armenian Embassy reports.

The meeting was organized by the Armenian Embassy in cooperation with the White House Faith Office. It was also attended by the head of the Faith Office, Trump's longtime spiritual adviser Paula White-Cain, and the office's director, Jennifer S. Korn.

The Armenian communities were represented by the heads of the Western and Eastern Dioceses of the Armenian Apostolic Church, the heads of the Eastern and Western Prelacies of the Great House of Cilicia of the AAC, the head of the Armenian Catholic Eparchy of North America and Canada, as well as the senior pastor of the Armenian Evangelical Union of North America.

The participants of the meeting discussed relations between Armenia and the United States, the Christian-civilizational ties between the two peoples, issues of religious freedom, as well as efforts to establish peace and stability. The role of faith and spiritual values in strengthening mutual understanding between peoples was particularly noted.

The Armenian spiritual leaders also offered a joint prayer, asking for God's blessing for the prosperity and future of the peoples of Armenia and the United States, as well as for the strengthening of friendship between the two countries.

"In their prayer, the spiritual leaders also touched upon efforts to establish peace, emphasizing the contribution of U.S. President Donald Trump to the peace process," the embassy's statement said.
