Sergei Shoigu: Moscow and Baku have overcome the crisis and are returning to developing cooperation

Russia and Azerbaijan have overcome the crisis in their relations, and now bilateral cooperation needs to be developed. This was stated by Secretary of the Security Council of the Russian Federation Sergei Shoigu.

"We note with satisfaction that the recent crisis period in bilateral ties has been overcome as a result of the joint efforts of Moscow and Baku. Now the common task appears to be ensuring that Russian-Azerbaijani cooperation develops steadily in accordance with the agreements reached by the leaders," he said at a meeting of the members of the presidium of the Security Council's scientific and expert council.

Shoigu emphasized that the Russian side proceeds from the premise that relations with Azerbaijan should develop on the basis of the bilateral treaty and legal framework, including the Declaration on Allied Interaction signed at the highest level, as well as on the principles of good neighborliness and partnership. "It is precisely joint work in this direction that the president of the Russian Federation [Vladimir Putin] has repeatedly advocated," he added.
